History

Beginning in 2004, Alex Aizman and Dmitry Yusupov wrote the iSCSI storage stack, as well as founding the Open iSCSI development community (http://www.open-iscsi.org). In 2005, they saw the opportunity to pioneer by combining components of Linux with the OpenSolaris and Open Storage codebases and founded Nexenta. As a result of being one of the earliest companies to work in this area, Nexenta’s products were among the first open source storage products to be brought to market in mid-2008.
