It would be really nice if the NexentaStor release notes at least mentioned what the key ingredients were.
I agree, provided this can be accomplished without causing additional
confusion -- zfs and zpool versioning is already confusing. Do you have
a wish-list in mind?
can I just swap out the Nexenta kernel with one pulled from an Opensolaris build if I want to test updated COMSTAR/ZFS code?
The storage pools can be imported by later versions of OpenSolaris,
but you would lose access to the analytics, runners, and other
systems management features. IMHO, simply replacing the kernel
may be more trouble than it is worth.
