Can't install from USB CDROM drive 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I'm trying to install Nexenta 2.2.0 on a SuperMicro SuperServer 6016XT-TF via a USB CDROM drive. The kernel boots but can't find the CDROM drive and thus not load the installer.

I've tried to put the system disk in another server, do the install and move the disk to the SuperServer, but then the system stalls with a screen that says:

"Initializing......."

and all it does is filling the screen with dots...

I'm about to drop using Nexenta, as my initial tests on HP hardware was just as frustrating as this (big issues with the Smart Array 5i controller). I hope that someone in this forum can help me, because this is getting really annoying...

Thanks i advance....

Similar problem here.

I get a bit further. I did the install from CD and then boot from the mirrored root drives.

I get "Initializing..........................."

This goes forever, after 3 hours, I rebooted and it's doing it all over again.

Interestingly, I am using a Supermicro motherboard.

The problem here was an unsupported ethernet card.

I am trying the NexentaStor 3.0 beta now and the card is supported.
